Rousseau was much about education because he believed that everything man lacked could be gained through an education. Rousseau believed that men where created good, but that they were easily corrupted by the society. And that the only way to get to your original state of good you man had to be as close to nature as they could get. Rousseau also wrote the social contract which was basically an invisible handshake between the government and the people. The government would protect the people if they gave up some of their freedoms. And if the government failed to do as said the people had the right to revolt.
Contradictions: Rousseau agreed some what with John Locke and his ideas. John Locke believed that people were born with a blank slate they were not born good or bad . Individual experiences shaped them to be who they are. Rousseau on the other hand believed people were born good but then turned evil because society corrupted them. For the most part Rousseau agreed with John Locke and his ideas that later influenced America's most important documents like the Declaration of Independence. Hobbes was one of the philosophers who mostly did not agree with Locke and Rousseau we believed humans were evil, naturally selfish, and quick to fight. He did strongly believe in the need of a government, but not like Rousseau who thought that the government's purpose was to protect the people if they gave up some rights in exchange.
